This self-priming pump is specifically engineered to handle air-liquid mixtures, commonly encountered in CIP return systems or processes with residual air. Its air-handling capability depends on factors such as system conditions and pump size, but a general estimate is provided below:
Air-Fraction Handling Capability
The pump can effectively manage an air-fraction of up to 50% (by volume) at the inlet under standard operating conditions.
-
Practical Implications: If the incoming fluid mixture consists of up to 50% air and 50% liquid, the pump maintains functionality without losing its prime or experiencing significant performance degradation.
-
Operational Requirements: Achieving this performance assumes proper pump sizing, sufficient NPSH (Net Positive Suction Head) availability, and an adequately controlled backpressure within the system.
Key Factors Influencing Air-Fraction Management
-
Pump Size: Larger models are generally more effective at handling higher air fractions compared to smaller units.
-
Fluid Properties: Surfactants, frequently present in CIP cleaning solutions, help stabilize air bubbles, allowing the pump to manage the mixture more efficiently.
-
System Design: Configurations that minimize excessive air entrainment, beyond typical CIP return levels, enhance the pump's capability to handle air-liquid mixtures.
Additional Considerations
If the air-fraction exceeds 50%, the pump may still operate, but with reduced efficiency and flow rates. For systems with exceptionally high air fractions or excessive foaming, it may be necessary to integrate air separators or deaerators to ensure stable and reliable operation.
Additional Offerings
We also offer a complete Seal Kit (O-rings and Mechanical Seal) for $250.00 and can supply all necessary spare parts.
If you would like, we can provide a formal quote, which includes a Lenze VFD Controller and an IEC Marathon Motor (4 HP). Additionally, we can review your application to confirm compatibility.
As an alternative, the team has also considered a centrifugal pump with an internal mechanical seal. Please let us know your preference or if further clarification is needed.
