How does the progressive cavity work ?

This pump consists of a helical rotor turning inside a helical stator. The stainless-steel rotor is machined to a high degree of precision, and the stator is molded in a resilient elastomer.

The geometry and the dimensions of these parts are such that when the rotor is inserted into the stator, a double chain of watertight cavities is created. When the rotor turns inside the stator, the honeycomb progresses spirally along the axis of the pump without changing either shape or volume.

This action transfers the product from the pump intake to the pump discharge without degrading the product.

Advantages of a progressive cavity pump

Duraflex Stator has a warranty of 3 years!

COST EFFECTIVE: Is an economical option for high viscosity,  particles/solids products.

CIP-ABLE:
The internal body designed using Computational Fluid Dynamics, cleaning has been improved by 30%

GENTLE: Carefully can handle fluids containing only soft particles like whole grapes and others products, up to 1 1/4"size.

VISCOSITY: Progressive Cavity Pumps are used to transfer products of low and high viscosity up to 1,000,000 CP.

SELF-PRIMING:  Lift from a depth up to 22 feet.

REVERSIBLE OPERATION: The pump can work in both directions.

EASY MAINTENANCE:  As there's no joint, no maintenance is required on the flexible shaft. No adjustment on the mechanical seal in a cartridge. Can be quickly and easily disassembled, thanks to the two-part body and shafting assembly system.

RELIABLE IN EVERY SITUATION: The Duraflex flexible shaft is made from hard-wearing titanium – more dependable than open joints. Our patented stator anti-rotation system ensures safe operation, in the events of high pressure or temperature.

VERSATILITY: The progressive cavity pumps, thanks to the hopper and auger, are suitable for pumping high viscosity products, doughs, pastes and liquids with suspended particles.

PRODUCT RESPECT: With our food grade pump, 67% of the product texture is protected, a huge amount in comparison to Lobe pumps and Bi-wing pumps, which protect just 15%

The hydraulic parts that form the pump are the rotor and the stator. The rotor is a round-section worm. The stator has two ribs and its pitch doubles that of the rotor, thus allowing empty cavities between the stator and the rotor.

These cavities are used to transport the fluid. When the rotor turns within the stator, the cavities move longitudinally from the suction area to the discharge nozzle.
